Why Do We Need An Association For Household Workers?
Over one third of Jamaican working class women work in the domestic service the largest single group of working women. Domestic service career provides employment for 16% of the female labour force.
Traditionally, household workers did not have an organized means of expressing the issues and problems facing them. The JHWA provided an avenue for them to bring their concerns both to the government and to the public’s attention for discussion and action.
